Review ~ Ardor by Elena M. Reyes
Summary:
Gregory Thomas has always had an easy life. When it came to his profession, he excelled, gaining himself the position of manager to one of the nation’s biggest wholesale retailers. He was amazing at everything; except when it came to love. The night he found his ex-wife in bed with her gay best friend was the night he decided it wasn’t worth it. He was better off just focusing on his career, and nothing more.
He became content with just being. That is, until Jasmine Velez, his new employee, walked into his store.
Blunt, and honest to a fault, the woman captivates him against his will. Not only is she gorgeous, but she’s the first woman that doesn’t chase him around. Something that makes ignoring her that much harder. The last thing he wants to do is try to have a relationship with a woman again, and he knows that if he allows Jasmine in, that’s exactly what he’s going to go for.
Except, then he’s faced with the possibility of Jasmine being with someone else, and the choice is taken from him. He’s left with only one option: He needs to make her his. But that might prove harder than he originally expected.
How the hell does a man seduce a feisty woman whose gotten tired of waiting for him and is hellbent on not giving into him?
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
What a great short story! I have to say, I was quite upset that it was so short. When I was given the ARC, thanks Elena and Malfunction Erotica, I had no idea the length of it or really what it was about. So, I decided to take it on the plane with me to read on my way to Boston from Los Angeles. I had about five to six hours to kill.
I laugh now just thinking about it because as soon as the plane took off and I could power up my iPad, I dug in and began reading. It didn’t take long at all before I had the book finished and when it got to the last page, I thought my iPad was broken or the whole story didn’t load. I was so upset there wasn’t more I almost cried. Now let me tell you why …
The story was that good. It was from a man’s point of view and a good man at that. However, his crazy wife cheated on him and was going to try and take him for all he had. Well, he was much smarter than that but so hurt that he wanted nothing to do with women and feelings ever again. Then this hot little Latin momma walks into his store for an interview and BAM! He’s hot all over her. It’s a push and pull with him. I want her but don’t want the relationship but don’t want her to be with anyone else.
Then they finally get together and I really shouldn’t have been reading that in public never mind on a plane. It was sexy hotness and smutty goodness. Um, yeah, I’ll never look at a store the same way again. Next time I put my food on the conveyor belt, I’ll be thinking of Ardor.
Great little story with so much packed in it. Ms. Reyes did a wonderful job and I’m so glad I got to be a part of this. Congrats, Elena!
