Summary:

Set in contemporary Ireland, filled with warmth, wit, and drama, Scarlet Feather is the story of Cathy Scarlet and Tom Feather, their spouses, families, and friends, and the struggling new catering business that transforms their lives in ways big and small.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I am in awe with the way Binchy can write a story about so many lives. During the story, everyone in the story from the bookie to the two main characters to the twin wild children and many more become a part of your life during the read. It’s amazing how one can become so invested and follow along without a hitch.

The characters in this story were so intriguing that a few of the ones I disliked in the beginning became my favorite and vice versa. With romance, heartache, bratty children that turn sweet and polite, adorable dogs, and the issue of who’s job is more important, you’ll get swept up in everyone’s story in no time.

I read Binchy’s last book recently. It was the first book of hers I read and I realized while reading this book that these characters show up in Binchy’s last book. It was quite fun seeing how all those characters started out and now knowing where they ended up. I might need to read the last book again to pay more attention now that I know who’s who.

I enjoyed Binchy’s writing style and her wonderful way of weaving some great tales into one big story.
