Review ~ Crave by J.R. Ward
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I read the first book to this series a long time ago and almost forgot the premise. It didn’t take long into this second book to catch up and remember. J.R.’s writing is good no matter what she writes, but I have to say this book dragged a bit. Not enough to make me flounce or anything, I guess I’m just used to all the busyness of the BDB series.
However, this book had a great romance in it surrounded by lots of sadness. I listen to books instead of reading them because I can actually “read” more that way, but I have to say I don’t like the narrator very much. His voices are almost all the same and he gets confused often. But once I was past that and the slow start of the book it was actually pretty good.
I’m a BDB fan, although the last few were my least favorite in the series. The newest is coming out Tuesday… it kills me to wait so long between books; I almost forget what’s going on in the world between releases. How do you think the Fallen Angels series compares? I was hesitant to get into another series, given the slow release time between books, but I hear there is an overlap of sorts.
I agree with BDB. I love that series, but I just barely caught up with the last two books and it had been so long since I read the one before that I felt I had to get to know everyone again. Can’t wait until the new one comes out next week since I’m all caught up.
Now, the Fallen Angel series is very different. I’ve only read the first two, but they’re not filled with as much action. So at times they can be very slow. The theme/premise is good and I like the main characters. So, I’m sure I’ll continue with them, just not in a rush like I would with BDB. I don’t know … does that help at all?
I guess they are just very different. And yes some of it takes place in Caldwell so there is an overlap. A couple of the characters from BDB show up, but not main characters.
I think Lassiter (sp) is going to be the big overlap. He is going to get a book; I’m just not sure which series he gets his story told. Your reviews are always spot on; I’ll trust your judgment and give this series a try when I have the time (whenever that might be!). Thanks.
Oh yeah, I didn’t even think of Lassiter! That will be a good one! ๐ Now I’m a bit more excited. ๐
And thank you for reading my reviews. ๐
Hello Ladies – I pre-ordered so I will have my book in my hot little hands on Tuesday ๐
Now, I just couldn’t get on board with the Fallen Angles. I have the 1st 2 books and never even finished the 1st one. I think too there wasn’t enough action and the smexy vamps from BDB just ruined me for anything else from the The Warden sadly.
See you all in Caldwell Tuesday evening!
I agree!! I’ll probably finish them because I’ve already started and need to know the ending. But they’re not my favorite or anything.
And thanks for teasing us Cred. ๐ Not fair. Although, I think I preordered it on audio and it should be available on Tues. So, it will be on my iPhone then! Yay!
